The film opens up on the terrace of a typical North Indian colony. Tightly packed buildings. Looks more like neatly arranged matchboxes. A battalion of kids flying kites. A lot of noise. Happy faces. Ear candy background music. Pleasant color tone. From the window of the house beside, a saree-clad female looks and calls out to the terrace,
Female VO: Oye Babuuuuu, idhar aaaa
A boy responds to her call.
Boy Vo: Abhi aayega ma
Mother mumbles something. Looks angry. Turns back, ties her hair up and goes on with her work in kitchen. The telephone near the window rings. There’s a baby lying on floor in a cotton bed. As soon as the phone rings, baby starts crying. Phone continues to ring. Baby continues to cry. Both at the same time. The mother gets annoyed. Background music slowly becomes tensed. The tone also changes. A little darker tone now. She is stirring the curry on the stove and finally stops it to pick up the phone. She walks to the phone and on the way scolds the baby.
FVO: Abe so jau
She picks up the call.
FVO: Hello .
A pause. Her face turns happy.
FVO: Kab aaoge?
FVO: Babuuu, papa ka call aaya
Cut to the boy
His kite got stuck in the electric line above. He’s trying to pull it down and in between he responds to his mother’s call.
BVO: Haannn maa
FVO: Jaldi aao
BVO( Still trying to pull the kite) : Maa abhi aayegaa
Sparks coming from the line.
Cut to the mother who’s on phone. She’s all smiles and goes on talking.
Cut to the sparks coming from the main switch above her head.
Cut to the kite stuck in the line. The boy pulls even harder only to make it more stuck. Two electric lines collide and get short-circuited. Sparks. More sparks.
The mother happily cuddles the baby and leaves him in the cradle beside the phone. Spins the merry-go-round toy for baby to play with and goes to bathroom.
Background music becomes more tensed.
Cut to the sparks from the main switch. A spark fall on the curtained-wooden shelf near and it gets flamed. The fire slowly starts to spread. Focus on the baby’s face with a blurred view of fire. Cut to the fire and slowly fades on the baby’s smiling face.
